Today I spent the whole day on Hunmeng, and a lot of it is now live. Here is what changed.
Every novel has its own art
I didn’t want one castle picture on every page, so each story now has an illustration that matches it. Comprehension Against the Heavens opens with golden misty peaks and a pavilion above the clouds; at night it turns to moonlight and lanterns. The Latency of Tomorrow opens on a rainy Shenzhen riverside at night. The castle landscape stays where it belongs: on the home page and in the catalog.
A new contents window
When you tap Contents while reading, you now get a window with your novel’s art on top, numbered chapters and a Reading mark on the chapter you’re in. It scrolls straight to your chapter, so in a long novel you don’t have to hunt for it. On a phone it slides up from the bottom of the screen and also works when the phone is turned sideways.
Novel pages, redesigned
Each novel page now starts with its illustration and a clear card: cover, genres, Start reading, Add to library, published and planned chapters, status, your rating and tags. The synopsis has its own panel and appears only once. While you’re on a novel, Catalog stays highlighted in the menu, so you always know where you are.
Small fixes I promised
- The green Read novel button in the catalog had text almost the same colour as the button. It’s readable now.
- On a computer, the filter panel heading no longer squeezes into one word per line, and the sort field isn’t cut off.
- The reading toolbar still hides when you scroll down and comes back when you scroll up, but it now stays put while you’re using it with a keyboard.
You can reach me now
The Contact page finally lists an email address, my Telegram and the Hunmeng channel. If you find a mistake in a chapter, that’s where to send it.
Nothing in this update touches your account, library, reading progress, ratings, XP or ranks. No new chapters were published with it.
